I’m not sure what is harder living through Spring Break in college or as a mom with kids. Both require a recovery period for sure. One of the mistakes I made on Spring Break in college though, I’m paying for now. Sun damage. Last year, I invested in some rash guards from J. Crew. Remember this post? I got the sailored stripe rash guard which I like because it fits like a glove (I got a small), has an SPF 50 built-in and is long sleeve. My goal is not a farmer’s tan so no muscle shirts or short sleeves for me. Because it does fit so snugly, I prefer a latched back top underneath versus a tie-back. I haven’t really found a way to wear this TO the beach though. It looks kinda funny with a pair of shorts or pants. I usually throw on a dress and put this on at the beach.
I also got the J. Crew Sun Shirt (small) and this year, I’m going back for another one. It has a totally different fit. It fits more like a long sleeve tee with a little give. It’s super comfortable, dries quickly and looks like a shirt with a pair of shorts. Does it say I’m waving the white flag? Uncle on bikinis? I’m a mom. I am chasing my Littles at the beach. So maybe it does…..but I don’t want to be Magda.
Athleta also has some super cute rash guards. I am kinda interested in this one. It might be the perfect tweener. It’s ruched ties allow you to wear it as a top or a cover-up. I mean, this girl doesn’t scream “I GIVE UP” she looks hot, right? Covered up but not giving up! I will be purchasing.
So what do you think of the Rash Guard trend? Are you on board?
